Jay was more than just a friend—he was a force of nature. His energy lit up every room, every conversation, every moment. Whether he was working hard at Rexel or going all out at a party, he showed up with his full self—loud, real, and unapologetically Jay.

"Jay approached life with a never say no attitude. When we approached Jay about joining the Marlins, he was all-in. Jay had an energy in life that was unparalleled that he brought everywhere, including the rink. If you were meeting Jay for the first time or had known him for years, he had a way to make you feel as though you had known him your whole life.

He didn’t let small stuff bother him - but when it came to his people, he was always there. Loyal, solid, and someone you could count on no matter what. Jay had that rare gift; he could make you laugh even on your worst days. His smile, his jokes, his wild stories, those memories will never fade. He was the life of the party and the soul of our crew. Jay lived big, loved hard, and left an imprint on everyone lucky enough to know him. We’ll miss him more than words can say.

Rest easy, Jay. We thank you for all the memories we have to love and cherish . We will always carry your spirit with us on the ice. Your legacy will live on through your teammates, friends, co-workers and family."

QE Marlins #6 has been retired and our league has placed his number on player helmets in memory of a great friend and teammate.

The BCEHL has also established the Lane Teammate Award in memory of Jay.
